Doug Plummer

Doug Plummer

Doug Plummer has been an award winning free lance commercial and fine art photographer for 35 years, and a commercial video producer since 2008. For much of his life as an artist and a photographer, he has paid attention to the bonds of community via music and dance. For 30 years he has documented America’s centuries old dance tradition, contra dance. In 2012 he shot, for Northwest Folklife, an NEA funded series of eight short films about local ethnic and social communities for whom music and dance were the glue that held them together.

As a long time social dancer, he is deeply engaged in the dance and traditional music communities, and he served on the board of the Country Dance and Song Society from 2015 to 2021. Take Hands grew from this passion, as he became inspired by the ambition of the Folk Week event organizers to make a difference in their rural community.

He lives in Seattle with his wife, Robin, and participates in local dances and music jams as a dancer, an organizer, and as a piano and bouzouki player.
